I left my job a couple of months ago to stay home, I watch a 16 mo old boy and have been trying to find one more child. I have placed ads on Kijiji.com (no responses) and CraigsList (mostly less than desirable people respond) Does anyone have any other ideas to do local advertising for an in home daycare?

What can I do next?

Hi R.,
I also have an in home daycare in Bolingbrook. I have never had to advertise in over 13 years---until now. Things have slowed down (I think mostly due to people losing jobs due to the economy) recently. I have great references and a couple openings, but it can be expensive to keep advertising in local papers. I have found it helpful to advertise here on mamasource in the local business reviews. It is free and I have gotten a few calls. Also ask your friends to spread the word that you are looking for work. Good luck and hang in there!

Hi--What about advertising in a church bulletin? Sometimes you can call the church and they will just put a little note in there. Best of luck!

I am currently looking for a baby sitter for my 2 1/2 yr. old son. I am not having much luck. Where are you located, I am near Belmont and Naragansette. If this is anywhere close to you then I would be happy to set something up for us to meet.

If you are watching only three kids (including your own) you are considered licensed-exempt and can register with the YWCA. They provide people with a list of people in their area and you could start receiving calls from them.

Their number is ###-###-####...good luck!

good places to advertise would be sittercity.com, daycarematch.com and metrodaycare.com

I have gotten many calls from all the services.
Good luck,
J.

not sure where you are located . . . but if your are near downers grove, i have seen postings for day care wanted/available on their meet up group message board . . .

and if you are not near downers grove . . .search meet up for your town or towns near it . . . and you could join that meet up and possibly post . . .

i also know most local jewels/grocery stores and libraries allow you to put up flyers for free . . .

the meet up website is simply www.meetup.com and just search . . .

good luck . . .

I don't know where you are located. What about a small, local paper. We have the Bartlett Examiner.
