We have family time (just us 4) very often. Unfortunately don't get to see other family members...
LOVE the giving part. SO MUCH FUN!
I am doing a poll to see if more people like the giving and recieving part of christmas or the part of hanging out with the fam. Be honest please and please don't choose both. I want to see which gives more gratification. Thanks for participating! I will be writing a blog about this;) Thanks!
Thanks everyone for participating in my poll! I loved all of the stories and hearing your opinions on Christmas! Really helped out!
If you would like to read the blog I wrote about this feel free to visit and comment. Thanks!

My favorite part is to see the looks on my kids faces both right when they come downstairs & right after everything's been opened. Spending time with family is always nice, but we go to my mom's house on a regular basis so this is the same as that only with presents!
Well, for me, its the little excited twinkle in my kids eyes! Do you have to pick one of the 3?
I like to give gifts, but I guess if I HAD to pick one, I would pick time with family. I love how work stops and the whole world (well around me anyways) everything is closed and you are with family. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :)
i love giving gifts and seeing the reaction. i don't get generic gifts for anyone (like lotions, shower gels, bath stuff etc). for example for a good friend of mine, a brand new mama, last year i made her a photo book of her lil one, using photos she had sent me throughout the year. she loved it. so i love giving.
Well, for me giving and family time go together. My husband and I rarely get each other anything but we all go to my families house after our little Christmas at home with the kids. At my parents house all of my brothers (4) and their wives (2), girlfriends (1), and fiance (1) have a big present exchange amongst ourselves and kids. I love it! I love to give and be excited about what gift I got them and see them enjoy what they opened. I am always looking for the perfect gift (no gift certificates!) and love it when they open the gift and appreciate them. So, I guess it's giving. Although I only give to my family! lol

Family sounds like what we are supposed to say. I mean, what kind of materialistic person would say gifts, right? lol But I spend a lot of time with my family on a regular basis. I'm really close to all my family, nuclear and extended. So, I'm going to say giving and recieving. It's a great time of year to show them how much they all mean to me.
The build up to Christmas is great. All the anticipation, trying to find that just right gift, beautiful wrapping, decoratiing, planning the holiday get together, and preparing the food, sweets, baking. And then when we all get together, I get a real kick out of watching peoples reactions to the gifts I bought them. It's a real joy seeing how happy they are. Of course, I'm a mom. It's hard to recieve gifts. It makes me uncomfortable to be in the spotlight. But I love how much thought my daughter puts into her gifts. It's really sweet.
Hanging out with the Fam! Hands down.
I loving the family aspect. Always have, even as a child.
The best part about the holiday season is spending time with family and friends. Personally I live two states away from my immediate family members and although we may not get to see each other during this time of year we make it a point to talk more often than usual. I make the most of any time I do get with my friends and family I do get to see as well.
This is a difficult/trick question - even if unintended :) I've noticed a lot of responses that are about enjoying giving family gifts, which is of course also technically "family time". It really all roles into one. It's tough because once you have kids, it's ALL about the kids! And (hopefully) it's not just about the presents. It's everything from decorating the house, to singing and holiday plays and charity and food drives and toy drives and waiting for Santa... ALL revolving around family time!
Basically my answer is that time together trumps them all, but within that time is the giving aspect that warms most hearts and is a HUGE part of the season.
I love giving when I have found just the right gift.
I love giving to my children.
I do not like receiving.
I LOVE the family time and the spirit of Christmas more than anything else.
Though I could do w/o the in-law family time. ;)
IMO, the build up to Christmas is the best part...Christmas day itself is usually a let down.
HTH!
I think I like the giving end best. Our children are grown up, but even when they were kids, it was great finding out what they would really enjoy and then surprising them with it (or something close to it). Now I have fun doing that for the grandchildren as well.
I have no trouble receiving, because I'm amazed that anyone would give anything to me at all. But giving is more fun. I don't look for appreciation (because one never gets as much of that as one deserves, right?), but sometimes that comes, too - and that's another gift.
I LOVE the time with my family, but nothing beats seeing my kiddo's getting the gifts we give them. And my niece and my parents :).
So really everything but receiving. I love to get things, don't get me wrong, but I can go without anything for me.
The time with my family comes first, then giving, then receiving :).

OOOOH! Giving! totally love finding the perfect gift and seeing the persons surprise and excitement.. If I had a ton of money, I would be sooo generous. I love it.
I already missed your blog, but wanted to add that it's the giving I love the most. Seeing the (hopefully) happy faces of loved ones when they open the gifts I chose for them makes my day!
Family Time. My hubby and I have three different family celebrations and we drive (and have driven) more than 7 hours one way to be with these great folks. The front end of our time is crazy and busy going from one house to another and then after Christmas it is lazy and relaxed.
My children love this time with their cousins and three sets of Grandparents and since both hubby and I have three siblings on each side (one step sibling on my end, too!) it is always a loud, fun and full of memory kind of year - seriously every year!
I am so excited for next week to be here!!!
My favorite part is watching my son opening presents on Christmas morning.
Being a single mom for the last 20yrs, with 2 of my three children in College, and enjoying their independent lives...Christmas, for me is the time of year, I get to gather all my little chickadees back home and have at least a week or two with them. We laugh, catch up, cook together, take excursions, and I feel whole and not so lost...for that short little while of my year. I would NEVER trade this for material, unneeded gifts. FAMILY is without a hesitation, my favorite part of Christmas.
Hanging out with family! I stress too much on choosing which gift should I buy for this person and so on. Just enjoy quality bonding time with family.
I agree with Jim it is the family time.
