I know many of you have tried ww or similar programs for weightloss, I dont want to actually join anything, but Im wondering what you ate to lose weight. Or what you ate that was most satisfying so that you dont end up eating the wrong things. I dont want to buy a bunch of stuff I wont eat, I enjoy cooking, but thats part of the problem too, I like good food! Ive tried soups like the cabbage soup diet, but as much as I love it, I end up getting sick of it, because Im hungry all the time. I have been trying to use more quinoa in my cooking instead of rice/ pasta/ bread, because its a complete food, with proteins. Any other ideas??? I need to lose about 40 or so lbs.

Hear hear, I need to lose 40 lbs of baby weight and I am sooo with you. I love to eat, I love yummy food, and because of needed energy throughout the day, I personally am always looking for sweet things. (Before I had children I never had this problem, and only weighed 110. Now I'm 170...it's depressing, really, I know how you feel.)

After my first I did lose all the weight, and I'll tell you what I did. Cut back to one pop a day (still regular, diet is terrible for you), and started eating cereal cereal cereal for snacks. I found I don't get sick of it, because there are hundreds of varieties. My favs include Banana Nut Crunch, Honey Bunches of Oats, Special K Red Berries, Honey Nut Cheeries, and Rice Crispies with a sprinkle of sugar.

Also, Hawaiian Punch makes a great "water flavor"...you can buy a box for one dollar at Walmart, and it comes with ten packets. It's sugar free, comes in lots of flavors, and although they say to use it on a 16 oz bottle, I use it on a 32 oz and it is STILL very strong...will satisfy a sweet tooth, and the beauty is, you are drinking sugar free water!

I recently started eating only "whole foods", basically no processed food. I purchased a book called Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook (I got it off Amazon.com) and am doing their 28-day detox and elimination diet. I have lost 10 lbs in 8 days. I have not been hungry AT ALL. I also have so much energy. You could check out that cookbook online or also go to their website www.wholelifenutrition.net/ to see if it would fit your needs. A lot of their info is geared toward those with food sensitivities which I do not have, but I felt like I needed to do something drastic to kick my sugar and caffeine addictions and this is really helping.

Here is generally what I am eating:

Breakfast: fruit smoothie (1 c blueberries, 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 peach, 2 cups spinach, 1 c grapes, 1.5 c water, 1 small piece of ginger is my favorite recipe. I will drink half of the blender for breakfast and drink the rest during the day for snacks).

Snack: 1 c dehydrated apples

Lunch: 2 c spinach, lettuce, cabbage or other greens, topped with 1 tbs sunflower seeds, 1/2 c chopped apples, mango or pomegranate seeds, 2 tbs oil and vinegar dressing
1 cup vegetable soup (I like butternut squash or carrot soups and they are very low calorie)

snack: some of my smoothie

dinner: small piece (2-3 oz) baked salmon topped with pesto, 1 c pineapple, 1 c lettuce topped with cucumber, sunflower seeds or quinoa, 1 tbs dressing, 1 c sauteed squash with garlic.

That is what I ate today and I am STUFFED. I also drink a ton of water. I think the key is to eat a ton of fruits and vegetables. Good luck!!

Exercise is your best bet! I love food and refuse to watch what I eat. I don't eat terrible food, but I don't deprive myself of certain indulgences and I definitely love my carbs and occasional cocktail.

I have been making time for 30-60 minutes of exercise daily and it has changed my life. Not only am I a happier person and mother, but the weight is melting off. If you don't have time to hit the gym, invest in some hand weights and some workout videos to do at home. I spent a total of $45 last year at Target on those items and it's been the best money I ever spent!

Good luck to you and let me know if you want some video recs!

identify your weakest spots. for me it was breakfast and the drive through. i stopped having bread for breakfast, it was the hardest adjustment but i believe it made the biggest difference. just about every day now i have an egg white omlette with whatever veggies i have and any protien i can get in there, like turkey or something and a slice of fat free cheese. i try to eat it sitting down at the table like a human. my kids know to try to let me be for a half hour. they sometimes even do it! :) now i soooo look forward to it, and it keeps me full for hours, especially if i have protein in there. a little red potato is good too.. . no more drivethrough, i keep bars in the car now for me and the kids. if i drive through for coffee, i just get coffee. and i try not to have any white bread or pasta at all. those were my biggest changes. whole wheat anything, but not every day. drink lots of water. eat as little as you can at a time. sounds obvious, but really. graze. i havent exercised at all, but i am getting more sleep. drink green tea. for a quick jumpstart, if you can do it, have about 6 oz of grilled chicken every 3 hours. for one meal a day you can have other healthy stuff, veggies, but for the rest, stick mainly to the chicken. ive used that a couple of times, but now i can only do it for a day or 2 here and there. thats fine with me, ugh..... anyway, ive lost about 20 or 25 pounds in about 6 mos, and i am going to lose at least 10 more :)

You can eat... as you usually do.. but try cutting back on portions.
And try cutting back on simple starches... or refined starches.
Lessening those things alone, helped my Husband lose weight.
Try also eating brown rice.... and whole grains.

AND grazing throughout the day... IS good.... so you keep your metabolism up... and avoid getting too starved.

Remember, portions sizing. Which you can look up online.
An apple for example, a portion, is half an apple. Not a whole apple.

Then for exercising... do what is called "Interval Training." (look it up online). It only takes like 15 minutes and if done properly, you will sweat! Pro Athletes do this too.... it is very effective.

Fiber fills you up so foods with higher fiber are great also a lot of water to keep things moving along. A tip I learned at WW is to always rinse your frozen or canned vegetables because they are loaded with salt which will cause water retention. I stay away from sugar substitutes and try to eat organic and natural foods (when available) and eat only dark whole wheat breads and pasta. I replace a meal or two with a Protein Shake (Arbonne has Vanilla and Chocolate and I love them) and if I can't get my fiber in the foods I eat I add in Arbonne's fiber booster. Portion size is the key and also eat slowly. If you want more info private message me. Good Luck.

Well this is what I did after baby #2. Basically it was all about counting my calories. I was nursing so I had to eat around 1500 calories a day and to keep milk supply up. So that's what I did. I have a log and wrote down what I ate every day so I knew I stayed in my limit and the weight fell off. I also drank slimfast and ate lean cuisines to help take the guess work out of counting all my meals. And I ate every 2 hours so even if I wasn't stuffed after a meal i knew I only had to wait another 2 hours and then I could eat again. Here is an example of what I ate.
Breakfast-slimfast 190 calories

snack-fruit or 2 hard boiled eggs or a granola bar 140 calories

Lunch-slimfast 190 calories or lean cuisine 250 to 300 calories

snack-diet pop & nuts or fruit or a whole bag of ww popcorn 100 calories

Dinner-whatever I was make my family...i tired healthy choices like chicken breast with a salad or say I made tacos instead of putting my meat in a taco shell I would put it over lettuce and make a taco salad. Or say i made meat and potatoes, instead of eating the potatoes I would eat meat and make myself some steamed veggies. Just little changes like that make a big difference. So dinner was around 700 calories. And all through out the day I drank lots of water.

Snack- ww ice cream bar 140 calories

Daily total- between 1460 to 1570 calories depending on exactly what you eat. But this is what I did and to give you an idea when I had my baby I weighed 142 I started doing this around the 3rd month after baby and by month 5 I was down to 115 and by 9 months or so after baby I was down to 107! So yeah it works.

Key is to follow somewhat of what WW says. 8 glasses of water, 5 or 6 groups of veggies and fruit and then eat 1/2 of what you would normaly order. So if you get a big mac meal ( LOL ) eat 1/2 and throw the rest away. If you make a chic stirfry dish up your plate as usual...but only eat 1/2. And hopefully you will be able to walk a bit or do some excersise. As long as you eat 1/2 of everything, I think people tend to do well with that to maintain or loose weight.

water, water and then some more water! The more weight you need to lose the more water you need to drink.
Sit down to eat and put your fork down between every bite.
Eat smaller meals and choose healthy snacks like a handful of almonds, fruit and a lean protein.

I quit drinking pop. In about 6 months, I lost about 45lbs. But of course, I started drinking it again when I got stressed out. I've been good so far, trying to quit.

If you use oil, use either canola oil or olive oil.

I also started eating more throughout the day. 3 meals and 3 snacks.

Thats all the advice I have lol, Ive been overweight pretty much my whole life, but it got worse after I had my daughter.

It's simple.
No pasta. No white bread - pumpernickel or rye or swirl is fine. No rolls. No rice.
No soda. No sweets. No ice cream. No soda. Cut down on salt.
Basically, cut your carbs down...
Eat almonds when you crave a sweet.
Eat white meat and fish. Stay away from red meat.
Basically, eat the diabetic diet and you'll lose weight.
