I am in the process of starting my own Licensed Family Home Daycare and wondering what other's charge/pay for Home Daycare. Does the age of the children factor in as well? My intentions were to charge $100.00 weekly for any age~yet several people have told me that most are charging quite a bit more. Is the overall cost of running an In Home Childcare the reason tuition seems soo high? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have an infant and pay $175/week. When she turns one she will go to a different in home day care and that rate is $140/week. I think if you charge $100 parents may wonder why you are so cheap and maybe not interview with you. Also, I have never met anyone who provided diapers/food etc. I went to at least 10 providers before I decided and the parent must provide everything. Good luck!
S. the cost to the provider who wants a quality daycare is much more then the "babysitter" that does it in-between jobs or until they get a "real career" .This is my choosen career. I have put my reputation on the line for this job. Having the proper equipment, training and insurance on your home can be costly. Licensed providers have annual training requirements, state and local laws they must follow and then you can factor in the everyday cost of doing business and the upkeep. I sure don't want to scare you away with the costs... but be prepared to put 1/2 of what you make back into your business for the sake of quality.

I pay $170 a week for an infant but was told that was the price regardless of age and that it would never increase if she stayed longer....as parents we provide diapers, wipes and formula.....she will provide regualr food once our daughter gets to that point. My older daughter was in home daycare until she turned one, we were charged $155 a week and provided diapers and wipes, the provider supplied formula since she was using the USDA food program. We recently called around to the very few centers in St. Petersburg that provide infant care and it's over $200 a week at most places, the older they are the cheaper it is...so you can go that route as well, but like the others said, $100 isn't enough.

I'm in-home licensed daycare as well. The BEST thing to do is call at least 5 centers and 5 home daycares in your area and tell them you're new and inquiring about rates. Go within that range.

I do believe $100/ week is too low. Especially if you are taking care of an infant. I have researched in-home daycares and I have found that it does depend on the area (some areas are more expensive than others for whatever reason) but the absolute lowest I found in my area was $110/week (for any age). For infants, I found the price to be between $150 and $175/ week. Also, most in home daycares will provide food and diapers and they offer a low child ratio therefore more personalized attention, so that is why some are higher. But think about this as well, a lot of in home daycares are still less than regular daycares. I agree with the other mom, call around and see what they are charging and good luck!!!
