IDK.

I think breastfeeding increased my ovulation! I had 7 kids in 7 years.

The wives tales were certainly NOT true in my case.

I also had very few episodes of break through bleeding between the pregnancies.

Just my experience.

It is possible to get pregnant while nursing, but when your body is producing milk, your prolactin levels are elevated which can make conception less likely because prolactin depresses other reproductive hormones. It can also cause a higher incidence of miscarriage for the same reason. I think it might be wise to wait to get pregnant until you're finished nursing, but I'm not a doctor, so you might check with yours.

It's probably not that you've stopped ovulating again, but your cycle may be off, which can make timing your fertility more difficult. FWIW, I got pregnant while breastfeeding when my then-youngest was 13 months old.

I am a daycare provider. I have had at least 3 clients with whoopsie babies because they believed the old wives tale that you can't get preggo while nursing.

If you are trying it very well may happen. Your ovulating may not be as regular as it would be if you weren't nursing.

Like many others here, I know someone who became pregnant while exclusively nursing. So, if you had a period, it can happen. But, ovulation might not be too predictable for a little while so you may not be able to predict when you are ovulating, and you also many not have an easy time knowing when to take a pregnancy test - because if it's been 6 weeks since your last period is that because you are pregnant, or is it because your cycle is still funky.

No, your body still is ovulating.

The myth that you can't get pregnant while breast feeding is why so many babies are only 10-11 months apart. You have sex? You can get pregnant because you're having unprotected sex if you didn't use a condom or some other type of birth control.

Having a period does not necessarily mean you are ovulating. And many a,woman has gotten pregnant while breastfeeding.
