Hi moms,

So I've been on this road to losing weight and just living a healthier lifestyle. I've been working out religiously and eating right for about 3 weeks. I've lost 10 pounds so far (yay), thanks to a lot of the advice I received from the mamasource moms about losing postpartum weight! But.........now these stretch marks are really appearing and I want them gone. Since I've lost a little weight I'm starting to notice them more on my thighs and butt (thankfully not my tummy) but I don't know what to do. What good does it do to lose weight and then have these ugly marks left behind so I still don't wanna wear a bathing suit. Does anyone have any experience with a cream or lotion etc. that may help minimize the stretch marks and maybe help tone skin. (I am doing weight training as well though) Thanks moms!

The Facial Wrinkle and Stretch Mark Remover cream from Body Fantasies, sold at Wal-Mart, Target, and possibly other retailers, really seems to work if you use it consistenly. It's reportedly based on the same formula as Strivectin, which sells for $135.00 at department stores, but it only costs about $15.00.

Palmers!!!!! I used it the whole time I was pregnant. While having my baby c-section the nurse assisting the dr. made the comment "she has NO stretch marks!!" and I gained 67 lbs. while prego. I continue to use it as I think that it is awesome!! I hope I helped!

I don't know if this will help you but may help others who are interested. I wont do this because I have 3 different sets of stretch marks. I got the first set when I hit 13, another when I gained weight in high school and another set from baby. Its like a road map of a major city. There is a place in Flower Mound that does stretch mark cover ups with tatoos. Its Cloud 9 Salon http://www.cloud9salon.com/.

Its Permanent Makeup by Tiscia Poole. She does eyebrows, eyeliner, mucosal, eyelash enhancement, lips, and best of all
Specialties:
Stretch Mark Camouflage
Areola Restoration
Surface Capillary Removal
Cleft Lip
Permanent Makeup Correction
Tattoo Removal
Scar Camouflage

I've been thinking about tattoo removal. I have one on the top of my foot of a cute lady bug but its very hard to cover up. I get a little tired of the comments made about it.

Anyway, so after you have lost all the weight (thats fantastic by the way) and you feel you have done all you can do, you can maybe just get the most visable ones covered up.

Have a great weekend and you go girl,

T.,

I put palmers stretch mark cream on religiously when I was pregnant...even though I was told that they are heredetary I still thought..what the heck, if I can minimize the damage at least I would be happy. Shortly after having baby and dropping some lbs I notices them coming on..so I continued to slather Palmers all over my hips and thighs, and they just faded away. I still have about 10-15 pounds to lose from baby...and unfortunately have not been as faithful about doing this, as I seem to have my hands VERY FULL these days, but I am hoping not so see them again once I lose these pounds. So....I say slather away girl....it can't hurt....I just ingnored the nay sayers and I don't have stretch marks..and both my sister and mother do.

Hope this helps!

If you are not breastfeeding, try Strivectin SD. You can buy it at GNC or Sephora. It requires diligent use but it has worked wonders for me. You may also try Mederma for scars as it is safe while breastfeeding. Strevectin is not. Good luck!

GOOD LUCK. I have them and if you get any miracle cures, please repost a new entry!! Mine got lighter with time (my "baby" is 4!) but they are still there (just that silvery-color). I've heard Mederma - but I think that just makes them lighter?!?

PLEASE PUT A NEW POST IN TO EVERYONE IF YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT WORKS - besides Laser removal!! :)

I SO understand. Mine were on my stomach though. Mary Kay's Visibly Fit Body Lotion is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite, spider veins, and I can attest to stretch marks. I used to have really ugly purple ones and after a year's use, most have faded away. It's not a quick fix, but the lotion is WONDERFUL and over time it works!! And I am not saying that because I sell it. Please hear me on that. This lotion was on Good Morning America's show (before I was sold MK) as the #1 lotion in this category on the market. If you want I can send you a sample so you don't think I am some crazy Mary Kay lady trying to make you buy a ton of stuff. Here is my website if you want to read more about it or google it if you want another opinion.

Hope this helps! and congrats on the weight loss!

Sincerely,

The only "cheap" stuff I have found that works is Nivea coEnzyme Q10 lotion. It helps a lot with dimples. Not as good w/stretch marks, but I can definitely tell a difference if I don't use it-oh, so it requires consistent use too.

Buy some Vitiman E (gel onces) stick a pin into it so the gel will come out and put the gel on your strech marks it makes them not appear and sometimes even go away. Thats what I did and you can not see mine at all unless I have not tanned!!! Good luck!!

Hello T., I do have an answer. I have serum and lotion from a line of products that I sell that are pure, safe and beneficial. They're all natural, made from botanicals. I used the serum & lotion from Arbonne throughout my pregnancy and I did not itch, and therefore, did not scratch. I wish I had known this for my first 2 pregnancies. I used Palmers and Walgreens coco and shea butter, but unfortunately, I was still left with a lot of stretch marks from them. I didn't want anymore so I used these two products religously. This line also firms and tones. As long as the stretch marks are still red you can still get rid of them with these lotions. If they're no longer red it won't help with the stretch marks but it will firm and tone, especially if you're also working out. They're safe to use if you're nursing. What I've learned about stretchmarks is that they're genetic. If it runs in your family that the women get stretch marks, 99% of the time, you'll get them also. That's why I was so amazed not to get a single one this time around. I can send you a sample and before and after photos on the results on firming and stretch marks. Email me at ____@____.com to go over these products in more detail. L. C from IL.

I have heard that this cheaper alternative to Strivectin (it's Walgreens generic version) works wonders on stretch marks even though it's for wrinkles and lines. Here's the link: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=304244&a...#

There's only one catch...you can NOT use it if you are nursing...which is the ONLY reason I haven't tried it yet. If anyone does try it, please let me know your results....it's worth a try as Walgreens WILL take it back if you're not satisfied! My email is ____@____.com Please let me know what you find! :)

Over time my stretch marks have gotten lighter, but no cream or lotion ever made any difference. I'm 57 years old and my youngest child is 32! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless they have come out with something over the last 30 years, they are probably permanent. It is always a good idea to use a body lotion, particularly if you have dry skin.

There is something genetic about stretchmarks and no magic lotion/potion will make them go away... over time they MAY fade... a LITTLE bit of a tan helps... but not much...too much of a tan and they're overly evident. :) JUst consider them battle wounds for the human race. :) LOL... I know... it really sucks but that's the only bright side I can think of! :) Oh to be 19 again! LOL.... (ok.. not to BE 19 again but have my BODY at 19) :)

I have been told that tanning can reduce the appearance of stretch marks, but I don't have any personal experience with this. I'm more afraid of wrinkles than stretch marks! :0)

GOODNESS KNOWS, IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE SHARE!!!!!

I have no advice.....whatsoever! I got stretch marks in highschool after gaining 15 lbs totaling 120 lbs. It is totally genetic and got them after having my son BADDDD!! I did everything said to do as far as cream and lotion is suggested and still got them.. My GYN said that it is totally hereditary. She said they are coming out with new laser type therapies to correct them, but who know what that will cost! I just have to wear a one piece and a cover up now. Luckily, my husband thinks I am still as beautiful! Hate to be a downer, but I was soo sad 4 mos after having my son, losing the weight and still having the ugly marks. I just spent more on my bathing suit and cover up than usual and felt a little better!! hehe! Good luck
