There is also a park in Elgin, next to the casino that has the spray fountains and a playground. (and they have real bathrooms right there)
Near Arlington Heights. Found the one in Glenview near the Kohl's museum which is FREE, but it is muddy and hard to contain the kids to stay off the grass/mud. Any mom know of a park in driving distance (15-20 minutes) that would be better? I've searched for a park in a Subdivision of Schaumburg which was free when my older boys were little but I can't find it...and don't remember where it is exactly. I'm willing to pay a little but can't afford a lot especially when the kids sometimes want to stay and sometimes not.
Thank you everyone. I can't believe the hours I spent on the internet trying to find things to do with my kids (not just this time but looking for mazes in the fall and kid friendly activities throughout the year..) and with this one request I got all the information I was looking for and it came TO me. This is great site and I appreciate all the information. I'm unsure how to take this off now that I've gotten my answer....but I'll read into it...tomorrow today I'm going to bed! Thank you all again. I work full time but I can't wait to try them during my vacation and on the weekends...and I'll reply then with more comment. -S.

The spray park that I think you are talking about is actually in Elk Grove http://www.elkgroveparks.org/parks_facilities_details.asp...
It is called Fountain Square Park.
There is also a spray park in Buffalo Grove on Rt 83 between Buffalo Grove Rd and Arlington Hts Rd.
There is a spray park in Mundelein at their park district http://www.mundeleinparks.org/parkview/spraypark.html
I haven't been to any of these is a few years, but my kids liked them when they were little
There is a park in Elk Grove Village that has a spray park. There is a slide and climbing apparatus. It is across the street from Mead Jr. High (1765 Biesterfield Rd). There is another splash pad (my daughter's favorite place to go in the summer) in Roselle off of Roselle Road between the Elgin O'Hare and Irving Park Road. It's at Turner Park. They have a small lake, a park, fields, picnic area, and the splash pad.
Have fun!
There is a spray park in Elk Grove Village near Mead Jr. High that is free.
There is a great sprinkler park in Buffalo Grove. It is all fenced in and very safe. I beleive it is called Spray and Play. You can get more info on the Buffalo Grove Park District websight.
The splash pad in Streamwood is called "Sunnyhill Park" it is on Irving Park Rd just west of Rt. 59. You need to look for the "Streamwood Park District" sign for the turn in to the park.
It is free. The splash pad is fenced/gated. There are nice indoor bathrooms, picnic pavillion and a playground right by the splash pad. Other things at the park include: tennis, basketball, skate park, second playground, frisbee golf.
A few people mentioned "Fountain Square" in Elk Grove. One note: There is no bathroom there. I called last year and the person at the park district said they "thought" a port-a-potty might be out there. It's a wonderful park but I found it very frustrating when the kids were younger. Just about the time we got everything out of the car and set up, someone needed to go to the bathroom and I had to load everyone up to go to the McDonalds nearby. I quit going because of the Moms who didn't take the kids to the bathroom and let them use the bushes around the playground or pee on potty chair in the parking lot... (Note: I know some people are just fine with that - it just wasn't for our family.)

Fountain Square Park in Elk Grove does have a port-a-potty, sort of hidden away in the back. From the sandbox area, go beyond the row of hedges. It is fenced in behind a maintenance building. I normally hate using port-a-potties, but this one was extremely clean, and even had waterless hand sanitizer on the wall. Hope that helps.
HI S.. We live in Elk Grove Village so I'm not too sure if you're willing to drive here. I personally don't think it's not too far. We have a spray park here called Fountain Square Park and all the kids love it. It's also free! The floor is padded so you don't have to deal with slipping or mud. There are sprays all over and little slides. There is also one big fountain where kids can just run around. On top of that, they have an awesome playground with all the swings and slides and then a sand area where they can play with their sand toys. Lots of things to do with your kids. It's on Gibson Ave., Elk Grove Village. I guess you get yourself to Golf and then make a left on Meacham heading south. From Meacham make a right on Beisterfield. Then make a right on Beisterfield again (the road splits) and then you'll end up in Gibson right in front of the park. YOu can also go to googlemaps if you want to map it out. HOpe this helps!
There's one in Streamwood off of Irving Park Road. I think it's call the Sunny Hill Splash Pad.
As was mentioned, the BG Splash Pad would be perfect and not far from north AH. Have you gone to the AHPD town pools? All but Recreation Park I believe have zero depth pools with water popups and a separate sprinkler section at least Camelot, Frontier & Heritage Park do - admission is reasonable and they have kiddie pool only hours weekdays in the AM with nominal fee as well - they also have a reduced rate available the last 2 hours they are open each day.
Fountain Square is the name of the park in Elk Grove that another poster mentioned.
Buffalo Grove Spray park. Perfect for their age!
the free one is in Elk Grove - part of the Elk Grove park District. Take Meacham south of Higgins all the way to Biesterfield Road (McDonalds' and Burger King on corner). Turn right on Biesterfield to the next light - turn right - road is still Biesterfield - go to the stop sign - park is in front of you - it is called Fountain Square Park. Call Elk Grove Park District with questions - their number is ###-###-####.
M. in Elk Grove Village
there is one in Buffalo Grove and one in streamwood (that one is free)
There is the spray park in Buffalo Grove on 83, in between Deerfield Parkway and Lake Cook. It's only $2 or something.
I should also say it's part of the BG Park District, so you can probably find exact location on their website
There is a great one in Mundelein called Barefoot Bay and it's inexpensive.
Hi S.,
I know you already got your answer, but I had one more idea to add. There is a brand new fountain just outside of the Elk Grove Library that they have just unveiled (I think last weekend). It used to be a fountain just to look at, but now it's made for looking at and/or for kids to actually splash around in, and the outer walls right around the fountain are designed so parents can sit on them and be right by the kids but not get wet (unless you want to, of course!) As a working mom, too, I thought I'd share this combo idea for a fun weekend day--you can go to story time or just browse through the books at the library, then go outside and jump around in the fountain. A perfect summer outing--and free! Have fun!!!
