Ok, so I'm freaking out.. I was looking up something else on line and stumbled upon info about salicylic Acid during pregnancy and everywhere its saying its a no no and that its in the asprin family which causes Rye's syndrome, etc. oh my god.. I asked my doctor early on about using these Clearasil "blackhead cleaning pads" which have 1% salicylic acid and he said he didn't have a problem with that! What the heck.. I was using them in the first trimester most (currently 18 weeks), I haven't been using them for a while now but I did for several weeks.. Did anyone else use this ingredient during pregnancy and everything turn out ok? Did I do harm? Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

Personally I have not used this product during pregnancy but one thing that you need to remember is that almost every product/medication on the market says not to use "this" product while pregnant or breastfeeding. If I were you I would stop using the product which I am sure that you have done and try not to worry!
I wish you a peaceful pregnancy!

HI I have three kids. I used salicylic acid on my head every single day with all three pregnancies. My doctor knew about it as well and was fine with it. I understand that doctors are human and they make mistakes. In this case I am fairly certain its not that big of a thing. Most woman have pregnancy acne well at least the ones I have known I cant' say what most of them used but I did know some who used clearasil as well. They all had healthy happy babies. Stop using because you will worry yourself into problems. I think you should take a deep breath and I am sure its fine. If you are really that freaked get a second opinion from another doctor.

i think those are fine it's the prescription meds that has more than 1% of the salicylic acid, and also proactive. i don't think that you would have anything to worry about.

Wow, this is the first time I've heard of that! I have very oily skin and have horrible break-outs if I don't use them, morning and night. I have two daughters, 13 and 9 and they are perfectly normal!!! And I used the maximum strength ones with 2% Salicylic Acid. Relax and Release!!

Personally I didn't use any thing but tee tree oil and natural products for my skin. I wouldn't trust my Doc to know everything, or admit he didn't know everything. It's amazing what is allowed in body products that either start as known toxins, or break down into them. And the US protects the manufacture, not the consumer. If you want to truly be safe, read something like the "Safe Shoppers Bible", and read labels.
Oh so other mama left this link I just found from another post.

I've HAD to use items with this ingredient in them to keep the acne somehow under control. I too have read this warning. My advice would be to use only products which you can wash off (acne wash) and not use a creme/gel you would leave on. I think you are safe, but you also need the peace of mind. Several moms here do MK and Avon. They have some facial cleansers which do not contain the S.A. and may also give you peace of mind.
