I am looking for a Pre-School (not an in-home day care) for my toddler who is potty trained and will be 3 in September. Looking in area around 19th ave & Thunderbird (willing to go about 5 miles South and about 2-3 miles east or west). Looking for a structured environment with a reasonable student/teacher ratio. We are currently at a "Corporate type" daycare & I don't think my child is getting enough attention because she has been acting out a lot.

What can I do next?

My kids went to Tender Times which is between Cactus and Peoria on 19th Ave on the corner of Desert Cove. They are also very reasonably priced. I am a SAHM now and that is why they stopped going there.

J.,

If your litte one will be three by September 1, I'd encourage you to check out the new program at Imagine Bell Canyon Charter School on the I-17 frontage road between Bell and Union Hills. They've hired a new director and are completely revamping their program. It's an all day program with wrap around before and after school care for working parents. Their website is www.imaginebellcanyon.com

J.,
My duaghter attends a Preschool called American Childcare. It has the feel of a daycare, I will warn. The teacher that does the older children is wonderful. My daughter started there when she was 3 and she is very close to reading. They actually have class from 9-2:30 in there they take a nap. My daughter loves it there. The are very good with the children. It is a family thing. Most of the teachers have been in childcare and teaching for 20+ years. They are great. They are located at 28th drive just north of cactus. Well within your location. I absolutely love this place. You can send me a message if you want. I will answer any questions that you have.

This is out of your distance but, I feel worth the drive. Off 43rd ave and Bell. Our 2 almost 3 year old is attending Little Scholars Academy. The class sizes are smaller and they have the hours of a daycare but, it is a preschool setting. We love it there. I cant wait for my littlest one to turn 2 so he can attend. Maria Dowell is the owner and her daughters attend as well. All the staff and teachers are great. It is worth checking out. Good luck.

J., I would absolutely love to help and I think your daughter would flourish in my pre-school. I do run an in-home center but I offer pre-school, not daycare. I am a certified teacher with over 10 years experience, and I just recently left my teaching position to fulfill my dream of running my own preschool. I specifically keep my ratios low (5-1) so that I can enjoy outings to parks, libraries, playgrounds, etc. with the kids. I've also been a tumbling coach for over 10 years so I know the benefits of "active play." As for the curriculum, I utilize a creative, hands-on approach to learning..."what children touch and explore, they remember more!" I live off 40th street and Thunderbird, and I know this may be a bit out of your way, but I guarantee your daughter would hrive and be loved. Please check out my site and feel free to call me. Thanks, J.
