I am a 38 year old working mom. My new husband of 8 months have talked about having another baby. We have been together 3 years. He has a 17 year old boy from his first marriage and I have a 14 & 6 year old boys from previous relationships. When I had my second son, I was 32. His father left me when I was 3 months along. I was devastated. So when I had my c-section, I told the doctor to tie my tubes (hulka clips). I never wanted to raise another child on my own. Grant it, my 14 year olds dad was involved in his life alot so that helped. Here is my problem, when I was 35, I was having extremely heavy periods and I went to my OBGYN and he did and ultrasound and found fibroid tumors/polyps. He suggested a D & C. When I went for pre-admission at the hospital, the nurse had suggested a procedure called thermal ablation which would also eleviate my periods. I thought great, lets do it. She said it was for women who were done having children. I had the procedure and I still have periods but only very light, but it last 2 weeks. Getting a tubal reversal is fine, but because of the thermal ablation, my understanding is that is destroys the uterus lining so therefore getting pregnant would be next to impossible. Well if I have my period still I'm thinking that I still have some of my lining left which means an embryo could still attach. I guess I am wishful thinking that this could be a possibility and I was wondering if anyone has had this surgery done and had any children afterward. I have an appoint. in a couple of weeks with my OBGYN to discuss this. If I can't well then I will be content with my 2 healthy boys I have now.
My best friends mom had her tubes "untied" and had two boys after that, she didnt have the thermal ablation though. Best of luck to you, and even if you can't carry a child yourself, you could always adopt :) lots of kids out there that need good homes!
I just want to encourage you that with God all things are possible- talk to drs, see what needs to be done, but even with a tubal and an ablation, if God want you to have another, it will happen! I have known several women who conceived under the most impossible situations. My grandmother tried for ten years and couldn't get pregnant. Then she had a medical situation and they tied her tubes. A few years later she adopted two siblings and within months, she was pregnant! She went on to have 5 healthy babies!!

I haven't had this but I was told because of a tumor that I would never have children and the power of prayer does alot I have two beautiful girls several miscarriages but God finally sent me the girls so If I were in your shoes and really wanted kids I would go for it. It is just a wait and see what happens and when you lease expect it a baby will come

as a mother of two and my kids are two yrs apart, i'm 29 and i had my tubes tied almost five yrs ago, so i know what you're going through. if you are really feeling that tug that some moms feel for another baby, i think at least talking to your ob/gyn. i know some doctors don't like to take the chance to untie your tubes.
Keep in mind, that the tubal reversal may have cause damage to your tubes. If this has potentially happened, this can cause a tubal prenancy.
Which is VERY HARD on your Body and could be FATAL! I am no Dr. but I have been an EMT-B in the past and do try to keep up with "New" practices of one. Also I had a VERY DEAR FRIEND, that this did happen to, it was extremely hard on her as well as the WHOLE CIRCLE OF FAMILY & FRIENDS.
She ultimately lost all function of her right tube and was unable to conceive, YET, by the GRACE OF GOD was Blessed with a BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER
through adoption of a distant friends daughter.

I had a Tubal ligation in March 2000, then had a tubal reversal (Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center in NC) in April 2004. I got pregnant the first month, but miscarried early. Then, got pregnant again in May and now have a healthy 3 year old son. We also have a 20 month old daughter, in addition to my 3 older children from a previous marriage. If you are SERIOUSLY considering a TR, I suggest contacting CHTRC, because Dr. Berger will be able to look at your records and assess whether the procedure is right for you. I just wanted to say a few things about your thermal ablation and the possibility of having another baby. This is intended to scar your uterus where you won't have bleeding. This scarring is called Ashermans Syndrome. You can get Ashermans from any injury to the uterus (from heat like the ablation or a d&c). Like you said, the scarring creates a thin to no lining in the uterus and it will stick together. I got Asherman's from a very aggressive D&C after a miscarriage for a partial molar pg. The problem was I didn't have any children at the time and desperately wanted some. I tell you all of this to tell you it can be possible to have a baby but it will probably be a bumpy road. First you will need to see how severe your scarring is by doing a HSG (dye in uterus with xray). If you have scarring, especially in the fundus area (where the baby is most likely to attach) you will need to have surgery to repair. This surgery is called a lysis of adhesions. There are very few OB's or RE's that have a lot of experience in this surgery. I was lucky enough to find a website called www.ashermans.org which has a recommended list of doctors with success. There are only about 7 in the US. If you are serious about having another baby, I would recommend you find out how badly damaged your uterus is and seek surgery from one of these "A list" doctors. I am one of the success stories and have a healthy 2&1/2 year old (I was 39 when she was born.) I wish all the best to you.

They are a forum of ladies that have TL regret and some go on to a TR, some IVF, some both {roll eyes} and some try for babies, while some just want relief from PTLS - post tubal ligation syndrome. One of the girls had Ashermans and is now pregnant 6 months after her TR with Dr Perez.
As for the ablation...I did not have that. But are you sure you are having menstrual bleeding and not just mid-cycle spotting lasting up to 2 weeks? a sign of PTLS.
I went to Dr Perez for my TR. We didnt listen to doctors orders and I ended up with blocked tubes. DH had MFI anyway and we had to go with IVF. I saw Dr Haddad with www.hfi-ivf.com in the med ctr off Fannin. HE IS WONDERFUL~~and has the greatest bedside manner! Absolutely wonderful!! And his nurse Antoinette is the friendlest person, always hugging everyone.
Back to the ablation and TR.....you can take estrogen supplements to thicken your uterine lining to encourage implantation.

I don't know if this information will help your situation but here's what I know. I was on birth control for approximately 8 years and never really thought about how it would affect my body. My periods became almost non-existent (which was nice) but when my husband and I decided to have our first child together (I have a 9 yr. old from my first marriage) I stopped taking the b.c. when I did that my period stopped. I decided to find a ob-gyn that specializes in all types of fertility issues and discovered the lining of my uterus was very thin and that was one of the reasons (on top of a few others) why I was not having a period any more. In order to fix the problem he prescribed me a medication to thicken up the lining so I can start having a period again. Fortunately it worked and I am finally on the road to trying to conceive.
