I was wondering if any of you suffer from clotting during your period. I was told a few years back from my OB GYN that it is not abnormal to clot during your periods after having children. Mine have gotten more severe. Now it is to the point that it is every time I go to the bathroom during my period and sometimes even in the shower. Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated.
I would ask my doctor about an endometrial ablation. I had one for heavy, clotty periods and it was the best thing I could've done. You can't get pregnant after having it done. Here's a great place to get some info and advice. http://endometrialablationboard.yuku.com/forums/2
Good luck!

I know what you are going thru. I did that and they want to put me one birth control when I was 12. take a lot of Iron and B-12. I also take some wonderful natural products that has tremendously helped me. take a look at this company or call me.
Dear M.,
Go with your MD on your Gyn problems. Stress can do terrible things to your body. As to your kids I can relate. I raised three children with a disabled husband. Don't worry. They are not supposed to be fun at this point in your life. Don't try to maintain a buddy relationship with them. Just go for turning out decent human beings by being clear, consistent and firm in your communications and actions with them. Let them know what the rules are and the consequences, follow through and always let them know that you love them even if you don't like them very much at the time. People who go about the wonder of motherhood and its joys are either delusional or deliberately lying. At your kids' ages it is not always fun and games. My best to you.

I've always clotted. I never even gave it a second thought, but just figured that was the way it's supposed to be. But it's your body, so if you feel that something is wrong, speak with your dr again.

I've suffered with it for as long as I've been having them which is now 30 YEARS. I wish I knew how to make them better. I've tried better nutrition, more exercise but nothing seems to work. I've taken all sorts of natural therapies. Sometimes it's not so bad. Other times I think I'll bleed to death.

I clot too. Every month. For days. I hate it. From everything I can find on the subject, it is normal, although if they are very large, you might want to contact your OB/GYN. Mine are anywhere from dime sized to half-dollar sized. Hang in there!

If your bleeding really heavy during your cyle you need to talk to your OB/GYN. If your going through several pads a day please talk to your dr. soon. Stress can mess up your cycle also. I know its probably hard but try to find an hour to yourself to relax, soak in the tub, walk in a garden. During that hour do not let anything interrupt your time. NO PHONES, WORK, PEOPLE, don't think about what you could or should be doing. IF you are relaxing you are doing what you NEED to be doing. If you attend a church on a regular basis reach out to them for help also. If you are a spiritual person pray often. Set aside time each day to pray. I chose morning, it seems my days run smoother if I start my day in prayer. Good Luck, I know parenting can be difficult, we have 2 teenagers and a young adult also. all boys

Not sure if you are wanting more kids or not. For the longest time mine were ok but as I got older my periods had small clots then they got bigger and bigger to the point that I could actually feel one come out and I would end up using 4 to 5 pads in 1 day. I finally asked my doc if I could just have a hysterectomy but she said that even with the bad clots and the pain that I was starting to have that it wasn't up to me that the insurance had to decide if I could have one.
So my doc said lets do an inner ultrasound to see what was going on as the pill or any other hormone meds were not an option for me due to a blood condition I have. So we did the test and found out that I had quite a few tumors. So with that the insurance agreed that the surgery was my only option.
So I suggest that you talk with your doc as soon as you can and talk with him/her about your options and on if you are wanting more kids or not.

I experienced that as well and I finally talked to my doctor about it. First she took a biopsy of my uterus to make sure there was nothing more serious going on. Then when that came back okay, she laid out my options. #1--I could go on birth control pills (they didn't work in the past so I was against that). #2--Do nothing. (I didn't want to do nothing) #3--Novasure endometrial ablasion. (If I did this I had to be sure about not having any more kids, & I am) I opted for #3 and I have not has a period since. It has been a great experience for me and I would recommend it to anyone. Talk to your doctor again because it took me a couple of times of talking to them before they realized that this is a monthly thing and it is painful and going through so many pads is not my idea of a normal peiod. I hope this helps. God bless you!

I had serious clotting myself. After having a biopsy done to make sure everything was healthy and normal I was given several options. I chose to have an IUD. It's the Mirena. It was hard at first because I spotted for about 4 months. It's been a year and a half now and I have occasional periods and they're very very light. It's been great. I wish you well. I know how you feel for sure and I'm glad my choice in getting the Mirena has worked.

You're not alone! I notice when I got to pull a tampon out, or wipe there are clots there. I've had that issue since my first son, and it's gotten worse (along with the cramps) after my 2nd son. I know after child birth they say if you have clots bigger then a baseball type size to call your dr. Not sure about when it's just your period though?! I'd ask your Dr. just to be on the safe side, especially if you're having this issue why in the shower etc... Gooc Luck, hope it's nothing!

Some clotting is normal, but if the clots start to get big, then you need to see your doctor. I would go if the clots seem to be a tablespoon size or bigger. I have done ultrasound for many years and there are conditions of the uterus that can cause clotting, all easly fixed.
