I don't want to get your hopes up falsely because I know that PCOS can be a very serious condition that often affects fertility, but I am simply writing to let you know that there is hope: I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago, based on blood tests, confirmed with ultrasounds. I was told that it would be difficult to conceive....They were WRONG!! - I am pregnant with my 4th - all without fertility intervention. FOr me, what worked was to get my cycle regulated with the pill, and then my body would maintain that cylce for a few months, once I was off (and then my periods would "de-regulate." Each time I got pregnant was within a month or two of being off the pill.......

Again, I debated on sending this because I don't want to mislead you or get your hopes up unneccessarily. I just wanted to let you know that there is hope. Best wishes!

I also have PCOS and was able to get pregnant without the use of fertility treatments. If I want to get pregnant again the doctor has said she would recommend fertility treatments so don't give up hope!

I too have PCOS. We tried for a year and a half to get pregnant, but I couldn't have periods on my own. I tried one fertility drug, Clomiphene, and it made me really sick, with cold sweats, cramps and nausea. My OBGYN took me off of that and then put me on Metformin and after only one month of taking it I got pregnant! Now I have a beautiful, happy and healthy 4 year old girl.

The Metformin did cause some cramping and diarrhea. Also since it is a diabetic drug it will lower your blood sugar, which as a non diabetic person I had to be make sure to eat regularly and carry some hard candies with me just in case it went too low.

I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago an before putting me on a fertility drug, my doctor and I tried a diabetic medication called metformin. I wasn't getting my period at all and the Metformin helped me begin to get it and I got pregnant with in a few months...I miscarried, but I got pregnant again 4 months later and carried to full term. I am pregnant with my second child now, and this time around did not need any fertility treatments or Metformin. Got pregnant my first try this time.

When I was diagnosed, I did a lot of reading on the subject and was a part of several group forums. The forums were full of soon to be mommies that had concieved with fertility drugs.

I too used injectable fertility drugs due to PCOS and concieved on the first cycle with insemination. Delivered a healthy now three year old. Don't loose hope.

I'm 27 and just had my first child September 2006. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. I went on rounds of Clomid, with no luck. My doctor suggested the fertility shots, I wasn't ready for those so I stopped trying for awhile. Six months later I was pregnant. Everyone told me to stop "Trying" and it would happen. Sure enough it did. I sometimes think the stress of "trying" makes it even harder to become pregnant. My best advice, which I know first hand is hard to do, but just stop trying for a few months. Don't watch the calendar, don't "time" your intercourse, and see what happens. Of course there are no guarantees but it might just work for you too!

One of my best friends has pcos and did get pregnant successfully twice. Her first pregnancy went wonderful and did not have any issues at all. The second pregnancy, she has extremely high blood pressure and was bed ridden for many months to protect herself and the baby. Both of the children are healthy rambuncious little stinkers.

I went through fertility treatments (IVF) due to a male infertility factor, but before we started the process the doctors did tell me they thought I might have PCOS as well. We now have a 1 year old son and were successful on our first try with IVF. My sister-in-law also has PCOS and she conceived one child without infertilty treatments and one with treatments. I have PCOS and did have alot of trouble getting pregnant, but once we figured out the 'formula' I got pregnant 4 times out of 6 cycles! I have 2 miscarriges, but have 2 beautiful little girls!

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. My doctor believes that if I lose some weight that my symptoms will go away and I will once again ovulate. We really want to add a second child to the family so hopefully this works. We'll be discussing options after Christmas if things haven't changed.
