Can anyone recommend a good, supportive and comfortable nursing bra that also hides nipple headlights? I'm fed up with the ones I got from Motherhood Maternity and ready to spend $$ on some good bras that lifts the boobs. I'm full figured and wear a 40DD.

The best nursing bra that I've found is the Playtex Expectant Moments Nursing Bra. I actually found it by chance, at the outlet mall in Aurora because I was so frustrated trying clothes on that day with a bra that didn't offer much support. I've since ordered 3 more online from onehanesplace.com (bonus, they're actually very inexpensive).
I'm a huge fan a Majamas, and the bras that they sell are very comfortable, but not very supportive.
Good luck!
Try Essentials Bodywear, a direct selling company. Dot Adcock is an awesome consultant and I'm sure she can help. Call:###-###-####
Pea in the Pod had some that work for me. Bare Necessities (online) has lots of options. Nordstrom is amazing for regular bras, but they don't carry nursing or maternity. There is a shop in Lisle called Tina's Closet that does specialty bras.
Good luck. I have so much trouble finding bras. It can be so frustrating!
My Bravado! nursing bras are the most comfortable thing ever and supportive as well. So much better than anything at Motherhood Maternity. Generally you need to order them online but usually those places will take back the bra if it ends up not fitting. And yes, they do have versions that will help with the "headlights" issue. I read that some of the new mom celebs out in Hollywood wear this brand and goodness knows they only buy the best stuff, right?
If you go to a good bra store explain the "headlights" challenge ;) they can help you. I have purchased something that helps w/ it. I cannot remember the name. They kind of look like flowers that open up and fit any size individual. Can't remember what they are made of. Maybe a silicone. They are kind of a pain in the sense that when you go to nurse you have to keep track of them. They naturally just stick to your skin. I used to wear them swimming and had no problem. To me, they were worth it ($20.00) because I had the problem the entire pregnancy and the next year while I nursed. I just was not comfortable w/ them showing non-stop for that long.
S. - If you haven't tried Tina's Closet in Lisle (Main St, maybe?) you've got to go. Tina can tell just by looking at you what your "right" size is - I was certainly surprised how off I had been in both sizes (cup & inches). Yes, you'll put out some money but it was worth it to get sized and if you buy a bra there, your sizing fee is put towards your purchase.
There's a store near Yorktown mall called Firm Foundations. The woman in there is an expert in all things related to bras -- she serves full figured, breastfeeding, and even post-masechtamy (sp??) women. And normal sizes too. Anyway, she's very sweet and it's her own business.
Good luck!

Majamas in Oak Park is great and will measure you. I think my bras were about $38. Be By Baby in Roscoe Village has the best selection but are pricier. But tons of styles and pretty ones.
S., Poor you! I remember those days. I was also a DD and a little more. About good bra's- I went to Walmart and searched for a wonderful Playtex super support bra. You could try Kohl’s, Sears, or a sporting goods store for a running bra, it helps hold them up too =) You can use breastfeeding pads to help hide the "headlights" ha ha thats a new one. Oh well now I'm 40 and I feel lost. Maybe you can help me with that. You can also try Blair.com it's a catalog with lots of stuff so check it out online you can get a free catalog delivered. here is a link I hope it works for you. Take care sweety.
I had great luck with the Bravado! (exclamation point included in brand name) nursing bras. They were supportive and well-designed for comfort and function. The ones that I had wouldn't necessarily help with the headlight problem, but they have lots of different varieties, I'm guessing they probably have a padded one. Or you can use nursing pads, I liked the Johnson & Johnson brand best. They totally solved any nipple issues. I ordered the bras online, if you google Bravado! there are a ton of sites that come up.
Hi S.,
Have you tried Intimacy? They are online and also have a store at 900 N. Michigan.
This may sound crazy but believe it or not, Victoria's Secret-- which makes excellent supportive bras (I'm full-figured too)-- does carry a bra that hooks the straps in the front like a nursing bra. It is not CALLED a nursing bra, but I went to VS and talked to a sales rep. and she showed it to me and wow I was very impressed; she was right. I haven't had my baby yet, but obviously since I've gone up a cup size I'm wearing my bigger nursing bras now, and my one from VS is more supportive than the real nursing bras and is just as easy to unlatch in front. It's worth a try!
When I had our 3rd child I said I was going to find a good nursing bra. I bought the Medella Bra. The same makers of the breast pump. Love it! I actually bought it through Gap.com. Not sure if they still sell it, but their returns are great if it doesn't work out. Good Luck.
Hi S.,
Have you tried any Bravado or medela brands? I carry bravado, medela and LeadingLady in our store "healthy babie happy families" in Niles. Feel free to come and try them on. Call me if you need more information.

You have to go to Schwartz's in Buffalo Grove!! I have been 34DD since teenage years and now 36DDD since kids. I have always needed a good supportive bra and have searched high and low for the best support and quality. The guy who owns it can be scary because, well, he's a guy!! But, he can look at you as you walk in the door and guess your size perfectly. Don't be afraid to move out of your comfort zone with sizes. Most women don't wear the right size (I think my nursing bra was a G??). Try on what he recommends. He has wire-free and underwire nursing bras...so comfortable and super supportive. I spent around $35 on mine (really reasonable compared to bras in the past!) Good Luck!
Nordstrom's is known to have very knowledgeable bra saleswomen who custom fit the right bra for your size. I have gone there several times and their service is very professional and I got bras that fit me perfectly. Good luck!
Ive seen recently that victoriassecret.com has nursing bras now. Not sure what sizes they carry or how well they support and/or cover the nips but I wish it was even a possibility when I was nursing!
