I would love to hear ideas on where to host my son's 6th birthday party. one idea is to have it in my apartment but not sure if the space is good enough. we already had it in pump it up last year. had enough parties at chukie cheese. so any other place is appreciated. thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Greatest birthday party i ever did was at the Plymouth Fie Department. as a part of their community outreach, thgey have a community room for use for free (I ordered pizza and did gifts there) then the fire fighters came in and gave a presentation....a GREAT way for the kids yto see them in their full gear, and that they are helpers. then got to go and climb on the trucks. call around....se if people still can do this! I know Plymouth and New Hope both have....

Maple Grove community center is fun, too. giant indoor playland. http://www.ci.maple-grove.mn.us/content/149/285/default.aspx

Northwest Gymnastics in New Hope is a great b-day party option. Talk to Samir or Latifa, both are fabulous! www.northwestgym.com, ###-###-####.
Or Choo Choo Bob's in St Paul on Marshall, another great option if your child likes trains www.choochoobobs.com/Home.htm, ###-###-####

The Lowry Nature Center has a really great birthday party program. Kid Create Studio has some fun ones as well. Micheals now offers b-day parties too. You local community center may have some good options (we did that for my 5 year old son - they had a blast). Classic Gymnastics is also a great place for birthday parties (especially if you have boys that need to burn off energy).

If you have the party on a weekday after school, Grand Slam is a fun place. http://www.grandslammn.com/ My son had his 6th b-day there on a weekday and the place was almost empty. I wouldn't bring 5-6 year-olds there on a weekend without lots of help - too busy.

Another place, more reasonably priced, is Woodlake Nature Center. We've been to a Naturalist-led party and the kids went on a scavenger hunt. http://www.woodlakenaturecenter.org/About/Birthday.htm

Yesterday I took my 6-year-old daughter to a birthday party for a friend at the Roller Garden in St Louis Park, and she loved it. She doesn't skate really well, but she already has plans to go back there, and she has asked if her next party can be there. Not sure how expensive it was for the hostess, but the kids all had a ball.

Hi - Maybe bowling or roller skating? We've done parties at both and the kids loved it.

Try Abrakadoodle (www.abrakadoodle.com). They have great art parties! Their most popular one is a party where kids literally get to throw paint using paint brushes, fly swatters, etc. It's a blast - especially for active boys. They can come to you or you can do the party in their St. Louis Park art studio.
