Need Ideas for Princess Party

The sugar cube castles I mentioned a couple of weeks ago worked very well at a birthday party where the boys and girls ages ranged from two years to eleven years old. Castles would fit in well with the Princess theme. Use paper plates for bases for the castels. Sugar cubes and frosting for "mortar" and popsicle sticks for spreading it are all the items you need for the castles. Kids come up with their own ideas.

I overheard a mom talking about this idea...it's not my idea but I thought it was cute. She asked girls to dress as princesses (or you could supply the tiara's and such)and asked the boys to be their favorite super heros. (or maybe supply the capes)Then she played a game where the princesses where kidnapped and the heros had to rescue them (hide and seek). Sounded cute and fun. You could make it as simple or elaborate as you like!

You could have the balloon person make swords and wands.(write their names on them) Let the boys bash away at bubbles in the back yard. See if anyone has a bubble machine you can borrow.

Have races. Play Simon says (Simon says wave your sword or wand in the air) Have shields and armor for the boys, they are inexpensive.

If you have time, you could build a crawl through maze in the back yard. Gather large boxes and tape them together, cut through them to make a giant maze... At night they can use flashlights to crawl through too. We used to also make little tiny "windows" so they could look out and we could look in.. I loved the little wiggly fingers poking out every once in a while.

M., a few years ago, my boys were invited to a girls b-day party and she did a prince/princess party where the girls came dressed in their princess dresses and she had stations set up for the girls to decorate tiaras and put make up on and a station for the boys to decorate crowns and swords (I believe she got these items at Michaels). Then after everyone was done with their decorating project the girls had a tea party inside and the boys got to go outside and slay the dragon to save the princess. She had an obstacle course type setting with a picture of a dragon and the first boy to get there won. And then they all came together to enjoy cake and open presents. It was alot of fun for both the boys and girls and thought it was a very creative way to bring both boys and girls together for this party. Another idea is maybe to find a dragon pinatta and have them decorate large dowels (and pretend there swords) and they can hit the dragon pretending to slay it and they get rewarded with candy. And maybe instead of a tea party do a runway type show after the girls have gotten all dolled up and give them a trophy filled with candy. You could also do the trophy for the boys and the candy they get from the pinatta can go in their trophy and this could also be their party favor along with the decorated items they made. Good luck.

Make it a Princess and Pirates party and go from there. Girls get tiaras and wands and boys get pirate hats and swords. I love the bubble idea that the previous poster had. Target and Walmart sell a battery operated bubble machine for about $10 that works really well if you can't find one to borrow for the party. Do you have a sandbox? If so you could have a treasure hunt by burying small treasures in the sand for the kids to try to find.

Don't forget pin the tail on the dragon.
I've also seen the plastic breast plates or shields for the knights at the dollar store, or just simple cardboard and they can decorate them.
I like the pointed hats with the tulle coming out the top myself. They look more like party hates and you can put a tiera on the hat of the birthday girl.

I know you have a lot of great ideas, but there was one I didn't see. I'm doing a princess/prince for my DD in May and I'm going to have the kids do goblets. I plan to get the colored goblets from a party store or online and buy some stick-on stones from michael's and let the kids make their own goblets that they will drink from when we have cake and punch. It is a good idea for the parents to help the kids so they don't stick the stones too high on the goblet. Later after the cups are cleaned and dried they will fill their goblets at the candy station just before they go home. This will save me from doing boy and girl goodie bags!

You can buy kits to make crowns at Hobby Lobby and other arts and crafts stores. For theboys you cn buy some thick paperboard and make a sword cutout for them. Buy some string and that can help them hold it on them. That way they are the knight in shining armor for them :-) Good luck I did this when my girls were younger. We also had pony rides but that was due to my Father in law owning a pony at the time haha...good luck!

I don't know where you live around town, but the $.99 Only store (several have gone out of business, but the one in The Woodlands off of Rayford/Sawdust is hughe) they have a great supply of swords that you can easily give to the princes or knights. I think boys would rather be knights while girls would rather they be princes. Also the store has a good supply of very inexpensive matching girl's costumes.
We were invited to a Little Mermaid princess once. The family hired a woman to come in and run the party. It was great, but I thought some of the things she did/provided could have easily been done by a mom that's creative and willing to put in the work. Some of us like to do these things and some of us prefer to out source. Whichever works for all is good.
The woman, decorated a child size table with white linen. Each child size chair was also covered with white chair cover that was then wrapped with jewel colored material tied with big bold flowers (sunflowers, gerber daisys of bright colors). It made for a such a drastic presentation. Very elegant. Each place setting had actual tea cups and saucers. And cupcakes, definitely cupcakes. Maybe you could decorate them individually.
She had Arial costumes for each of the girls that attended. It was great to see all the girls in matching costumes. She help the entire princess court change out of their clothes into their princess outfits. The girls loved it, she also had them place thier clothes nicely on the bed, great! She then led them out in a line and they all sat attentively while each girl got a beauty treatment; eyeshadow, blush, lipgross, and princess sparkles. Once everyone was dolled up (and the makeup was very minimal) she introduced each princess to the court individually, then they all circled around the "throne" of the birthday girl while she took her royal oath (to be a good princess, to open her presents with respect, and to be happy)she was given a tiara, and a cape. The birthday gal just loved it all, she had the biggest proud smile on her face. It was so precious. The woman also had a craft for the kids to do, and then they all sat down to have tea and cupcakes.
So you can do that.

Yes, have everybody dress up, including yourself! I found a lot of cheap princess dresses at the thrift store and all the little girls were able to pick from the lot. My sisters and I dressed up as well in formals I found for $1 at the thrift store. I made a pretty cake in the shape of a teapot (not that hard and came out really cool), too. There was one boy there but he didn't dress up. They made crowns, played pin the tail on donkey for prizes and busted a princess pinata. Actually the boy is the one who broke it! It was a great party until 2 of the mean girls ganged up on another girl! Haha---there has always got to be bad apples....Good luck!

I did the Pirate and Princess party when I did my DD's birthday. I got a blow up Pirate ship for the back yard for the boys (they had them last year at toys r us)

The clown can make sord balloons for the boys. They can get dragons for face painting, you can make princess cone hats and king hats out of paper. Try to think more castle party than just princess and I bet you will come up with alot more!

Have the boys dress up as a prince or knight if this isn't possible maybe have them do a craft to make a shield and the clown can make them swords.

Instead of party hats, let everyone make their own "crowns". You can cut out a basic shape from fun foam for everyone and let them glue beads and glitter to them or use pipe cleaner type thingys to string beads on and they can make their own shape.

Shapes, ribbon, beads.......anything you can think of can be attached to wooden dowels that have been cut to 1 foot lengths will make a dandy "wand" or "staff".

My first response for a party idea was a Princess and Pirate Party. As I scrolled down all the responses, I noted that several had the same idea.
You can check Oriental Trading for a lot of good ideas in party favors, crafts, etc., even pirate patches.
My granddaughter just recently had a princess theme birthday, in which the girls came dressed in their gowns and crowns at the birthday girl's palace.
She also had a moonwalk that was a castle with a slide in her kingdom (backyard). We also suggested a change of clothes if they wanted.
It was a great hit! It would be a perfect activity for princesses and princes/pirates.
She has a Cinderella princess battery-powered car. Each girl had her picture taken in the car before all the activities began. This was a great party favor remembrance.

We had a princess party last year for my daughter and it was great! Everyone came dressed up as princesses or knights. We decorated crowns/tiaras. We played "pin the fire on the dragon", "pass the frog (potato)", "freeze dance" and "princess and the pea". The kids all loved it.

Have fun with the princess party, we just had one last weekend. We had the girls decorate foam tiaras and the boys got knight's vests and foam swords. My daughter is 3 though, and most of her friends were 2, so we didn't do too much. Here is a great website to look at though, it has good prices and good ideas. I hope the party is great, and the most important thing is to just have fun.

Snacks that are creative, and not packed w/ sugar are always good. Door prizes, and music.

What about a prince/princess party? All the kids can be royalty...

How about stuff with knights or princes for the boys? You could have the kids make crowns or swords from cardboard & foil, or have the clown make swords from balloons.

My sis just had my niece's Hanna Montana party, and my son was the only boy there. She just turned 7, and my son is 4. My sis just had a separate goodie bag for him and some other things so he didn't have all the girlie stuff too.

The first thing that comes to mind is to have the kids dress up. The girls as princess's and the boys and kings be sure that your daughters is a very special one. Have a special thrown for her to set in at the party. OH be sure and take lots of pictures as they will be fun to look at now and as she gets older. We did this and even had people bring in the foods on trays and serve them ok it was my husband and I but she at age 31 still remembers it.
