I am interested in getting my 1 yearold daughter involved in modeling/commercials, but have no idea where to start. We live near Philaddelphia and I was wondering if anyone had the name of a good, reputable agency. I know a lot of people have gotten scammed in the past. Thanks in advance :)

What can I do next?

Be very careful...........NEVER pay any money to anyone. If they want you they will call you. A snapshot will be sufficient in the beginning. Don't go spend $ on a portfolio until you know is someone is interested.

I'm in TX and don't know any agencies in your area. I've modeled most of my life and my daughter has modeled as well.

It is not all fun and games....it is WORK. Expect a lot of rejection, to be called at times that are not convenient for you (middle of nap times, etc), etc

Make sure your child likes it....it is WORK and please put any and all $$$ made into your child's accounts for education, etc.

There are a lot of kids that are pushed....accept it if she does not like it.

Good luck.

Try baby boomers talent. http://www.babyboomerstalent.com/ or Mike Lemon Casting, http://mikelemoncasting.com/ . My kids were called on a few auditions and I will never take them back again. The industry is real cut-throat. One mom made my son cry by being down right nasty to him just before his audition, needless to say I almost made her cry...don't mess with mamabear! ;) Be smart about it and do it for fun. Good luck!

Hi, you are right it is important to find a reputable agency in your area. There are a lot of scams. First of all, no reputable agency asks you for money up front. However, all agents need professional photos of your child. See if you can find a photographer who specializes in modeling photography. If he/she is good, he/she will be able to refer you to reputable agents. If you can't get some referrals upfront from a candidate photographer, move on to the next one. The photos can be expensive, anywhere from $400-$1800, depending how good your photographer is. Some agencies are picky about which photographer they want you to use, so be prepared to pay a lot if they are reputable and well known. The internet is a great way to check out EVERYONE before you pay a dime. Also, once you have your photos, you can submit them to jobs yourself at these two sites: http://www.exploretalent.com and http://www.actorsaccess.com. It does not cost too much, but make sure you submit as soon as the job shows up for your best chance. Good luck!
