I am looking for other moms to talk to. I have a wonderful family support system but it is always nice to talk with someone who really understands what my family is going through. My son was diagnosed with Aspergers a year ago and it has been very hard for my husband and I to find constructive ways to deal with his behavior.

What can I do next?

Hello,
My son was diagnosed with autism at age 3. He did not talk until he was around 3 1/2. Well we got him into Early childhood education classes and now he is talking and we have recently been told that the teachers think he has Aspergers.
My son is 5 years old and is very intelligent but has social problems.
I would love to have someone to talk to that is dealing with this also.

Hi R.! I know that you are loving your son and doing your absolute best. Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to mention a specific type of care called upper cervical care. It know it might seem strange, but these types of chiropractors have had tremendous results with aspergers. In one research study, seven children were treated. Six showed great improvements and two were not even considered to have aspergers anymore!

There is more research on this at www.erinelster.com/add
and even more information at
http://www.icpa4kids.org/research/chiropractic/adhd.htm

Please let me know if you need a referral in your area. I can help.
Have a fabulous and inspiring day.

Hello,
I am a mother and I have a son who just turned 7 who has Asperger's. We live in South County St. Louis. Where do you live? I understand the challenges of living with Asperger's. My son was diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago now and he also Giftedness, Dyspraxia and Sensory Integration Disorder. Are you registered with the Regional Center? How about the Family Support Network? Have you ever had the parenting training from Judevine? I'd like to connect with other parents too.

Hi R.,
I am a mom with a daughter with aspergers syndrome, and the first thing i want to say is It's OK. when I first heard this diagnosis, I was mad at the world, and just in awe..questioning everything, why, what, how,,etc. like you stated, god has his plan..well, I was directed to early childhood care, and I can honestly say, this was a true blessing for our little girl. Are you getting him involved with therapists? You need to have some outside help with him, taking this on yourself is to much. I know it's a little different between boys and girls, but having a special place for him to go and be with others with therapist will help him and you and your husband alot. there is a great school called Howard Park Early Childhood Center on Clayton rd in Ballwin. it's wonderful..my daughter is 10 now, doing great in public school, active in things, making friends is still a little difficult, the social situations but life is good . drop me a line anytime..and seek professional help, it's not a bad thing at all. I know how hard it was for my late husband and I to agree on things with her, medications, diet, etc..but i stuck to my guns, and worked with the direction of her neurologist and therapist and i am so glad i did. acting now is what is needed, don't let it go anylonger without some real defined grounds,

I do not have any children of my own with Aspergers, but I do work with children who are in the autism spectrum. I am a third grade special education teacher and I work with children with all disabilities. I will also be taking a free on'line class through ISU on Autism. Check it out, you may find it useful. I have four children of my own and so feel free to talk, vent, whatever....

I have a 16 yr old boy with pdd. He was just diagnosed a little over a year ago. I am also raising my 2 yr old grand-daughter who I believe may be on the spectrum as well. We do not have a complete diagnosis on her yet.

Any time you feel like talking, venting or otherwise just give me a hollar. Been there and understand all the frustration, and trial and error that goes along with it all.
