Hi S.! Its completely normal for a woman's body to take even up to a year to adjust being off of depo-provera. Just keep trying and if you still aren't pregnant after 15 months of actively trying, I would seek the help of an ob/gyn. Good Luck!

It took me 3-4 months of trying after getting off the depo to conceive. But I was always very fertile and never had those kinds of problems. I have heard 3-4 months is a very short time compared to most women who were on the shot. Give yourself time.
Stress will contribute to the situation and it would take even more effort and time. So just relax and take it day by day. There's no rush to bring a child into your lives. It will come when it's meant to come. Hang in there and stay positive.
See your doctor, both of you, and see if things are working normally. Good luck!

Dear Shawana,
From your question, I have gathered that you are not ready to have another child yet! Is it him or me! Maybe it just is not the right thing for you's. Plus the only true answer is for both of you's to be checked out by your own doctors, to see if there is a physical reason. Six months trying is not very long.. May God guide & bless you all.
Truly,

Hi S.!
I have to agree that it probably will take some time for your body to adjust. Depo does crazy things to a woman's body and it most certainly will take some time especially if it made your period go away. Remember it is very difficult to predict when you are ovulating if you aren't having a regular period.
The most important thing is to have patience and not stress about it because the added stress will most definitely impact things. It will happen when the time is right! Have faith!
Good luck!

I was on Depo years ago. They told me at the time it would take 12 - 18 months after getting off if it before you would likely get pregnant. It takes a while to get out of your system.

Hi S.,

Like any long term hormone, your body needs to readjust back to normal. The way Depo works is it stops you from ovulating so you can't conceive. It will take longer in some women and the older you are the longer it will take to readjust. You need a VERY healthy diet, an absorbable multivitamin to jumpstart your body work working right and some physical exercise. (Dont go overboard on the exercise, way too much can slow your ovulation down as well.)

When you get pregnant, Lord willing, research Depo before you go back on it. It is a terribly dangerous drug. As a woman who has reversed her osteoporosis back with tremendous exercise and absorbable calcium, I wouldn't wish that condition on anyone.

Regards,

M.

I was on depo provera when I was 18. I gained 60 pounds and it took a whole year for my period to come back even when the doctor gave me a prescription that was supposed to bring it back. It took my body quite a while to start cycling normally again. Give it some more time.............it will happen.

You may be able to help things along by going to an accupuncturist that specializes in fertility. If you live anywhere near South Miami I can definitely recommend someone to you! I know that's what contributed to my pregnancy. And- I referred a friend to her who is now pregnant after several months of trying. Her sessions helped regulate her periods, etc... Let me know if you'd like the accupuncturist's name and contact info.

I can only tell you what happened to me...

I was on Depo for only one cycle. I did not get a period for two years because of this, and was told the Depo had made me infertile. This is actually listed as a possible side effect on the manufacturers sheet... (which I did not read at the time). I was directed to a group lawsuit for many women that this happened to...I went through so many tests, and so much to try and see if I was indeed infertile.

After about 7 years, my fertility returned and I now have 2 more children. I would get tested to see if this has happened to you. (IMO)

It has been a while, but I think after you go off depo it takes several months before you can get pregnant. It depends how long you were on it and different facts like that. Good luck.

It took 18 months for me to get pregnant after the Depo...you need to give it time to work itself out of your body.

Not enough information to know that.
You both should have a physical, and go from there-
sometimes improving your diet will handle.
Check it out.
Best, k
