I LOVE My Kids' Picture with Santa This Year! Do You?

We took the boys to see the big man last weekend, and their picture is priceless! My oldest, 2.5, absolutely adores Santa, and apparently, my babe, 1, hates him!! I am so happy with how their picture turned out! I have it posted as my profile pic :-) Johnny is enamored, and Andrew is terrified! I can't wait to look back on it in 10 years, and even show Drews wife one day :-)

How did your Santa pics come out? Does anyone else love their sad, crying babies in the picture, or am I nuts?

What can I do next?

Oh, I think crying baby Santa pictures are hilarious! My 20-month-old daughter hated Santa both this year and last, but she doesn't do the screaming crying thing that makes for the funny photos. Last year, she was just pouty, and this year, she just scowled. Maybe I'll tell Santa to growl at her next time to really scare her. Just kidding. :)

This year will be my only son's first Christmas. My husband and I were so excited to take him to see Santa and get a cute L. picture to use on a holiday card. Well...my son HATES Santa! He threw a full-blown fit and could not have made a worse face. The elf distributing the picture printouts laughed hysterically as she said, "it's my job to ask...do you want to order a picture package." We have the picture hanging on our refrigerator, and it makes me smile everyday. Despite my son's horrible expression, I think it is the cutest picture ever and I'm thinking about using it on a holiday card anyway. Will people think that's dumb?

DD cried this time. Last time she was all grins. I got a picture of her talking to him, where neither one was facing the camera, but it's cute and charming all the same.

I like ours! It's the second one we have done and the second time we have all ended up in the shot. My 3 year old wouldn't sit up there by herself so me and daddy joined in the fun! Now we have a cute family photo plus Santa:)

I got a pic of my daughter with Santa, but it took her sitting on my knee, and she would not look at him or come anywhere near him. The only reason she is smiling is because the photographer got her to laugh by being silly. And the studio ended up cropping me out, so it's basically her sitting and smiling NEXT to Santa, and turned AWAY from him!

If there are just a few tears, but no extreme fright on your child's part, I'm good with the idea that you enjoy that picture. If, on the other hand, he is like our granddaughter, who at age 8 still is terribly put off by Santa or any other costumed character, I would say it isn't worth the trauma to the child for a cute picture. We took our two granddaughters to breakfast with Santa at the local senior center this year, after assuring the 8 y.o. that she wouldn't be forced to even get near the guy. She was happy to pose with Mrs. Santa as long as she could stand at a 'safe' distance from him. We were able to get her into a picture with her sister and cousin that included them standing by Santa and her with Mrs. Claus.
I say do what you can to get the pictures you want, but without trauma to the child.

Cute! I loved them all except this year. The photographer didn't capture my son's smile although he smiled and said cheese 3 times. The pictures were shot before he was ready. Frustrating because it cost $20 something dollars.

I LOVE my Santa pictures this year. We took three different poses. One with the kids just smiling and baby boy had a HUGE grin. The other one Santa was reading them a book and the photographer captured all of them looking at the book...tooo cute!!! Third, my two oldest was whispering in Santas ear while baby boy looked up at Santa...LOL!!! They are all so very cute!!
