The girl I go to is in Eden Prairie at the Sanctuary Salon Spa - she is great! Her name is J. Wiles - her haircuts are $55 and worth every penny! Tell her J. Hendrickson sent you! Good luck no matter who you choose!
I need a new hair stylist. Bad. Here is the problem. I need someone who can tell me what I need. I have curly hair and am sometimes lazy when styling so I need someone who can do what needs to be done to my hair! I am not the person who comes to the salon with a picture in hand of what I want or need... the person I sit down with must have ideas and execute them. I am not hard to please. Promise : )
If you have someone who would be perfect then let me know! I work in Mpls but live in St Paul so either direction would be fine!
Thanks!

Molly at Studio 52 (downtown Mpls) is awesome - ###-###-#### - tell her A. Mason sent you
Hi A.,
I live in St. Paul too, and I just started going to the Juut Salon at Roseville Commons--it's right next to the Women's Lifetime Fitness gym. At this Juut, they have a variety of levels of stylists, so prices vary from very affordable to a bit more expensive. Also, the stylists are all listed on their website, so you can research to see which stylist might be best to work with your hair type. I see a stylist named JJ--she is fabulous--and her cuts are $35. Good luck!
A. - my stylist is in Apple Valley but she is fabulous. She does exactly what you just described - she understands how to style hair to fit the person. Her name is Susan Fischer and her salon is Hidden Cove. Walking into her salon is like walking into the north woods and you leave relaxed and refreshed!
I've been going to Darlene at Kenneth's at 2623 White Bear Ave in St Paul (near Hwy 36). She totally looks at your overall look and face shape. She's very personable too! Tell her W. sent you!
Good luck,
W.
I love Jane Bakeman at Londons, Ltd. in St. Louis Park. Let me know if you want the number.
Try Jaci (pronounced Jackie) at Bleach in St. Paul at Snelling and 40-something. She's great and she has curly hair herself. I think she wouldn't be shy in giving her opinion and ideas and then executing.
I love Lexi at the Denny Kemp Salon in Northeast Minneapolis. I started seeing her about 2 years ago and have never been happier with my hair, all due to her hair cutting. I generally tell her what problems I have with my hair and what I like and she fills in the blanks and comes up with styles that suit me, and my desired level of maintence. Trust me, I am lucky if I get to blow dry my hair and it still looks good most days. I don't think you will be disappointed!
Good luck!
This is a risky referral because he is just so darn dramatic and temperamental but...! Try Trey at The Headquarters in downtown St. Paul (I think it is very near Embassy Suites). I have a couple friends with curly hair and they swear by him. And he is more than happy to tell you exactly what he thinks you should do with your hair. Last time I went to him was way back in his Estetica days. After that he was at Euphoria...And then, not sure.

I have curly hair, too. I called Juut in St. Paul (Grand Ave.) and asked if they had somebody who CAN cut curly hair. In fact, they told me, they have a curly-hair specialist. I saw her about a month ago and told her I just wanted a cool, up-dated look. She played around with my hair for a couple of minutes and offered me two suggestions. I told her to go with her instincts and do what she wanted. Honestly, it is the best haircut I've had in years! It is cute and current. It is also ridiculously easy to style. I'm sure you would agree that curly hair is never easy! I also had my hair highlighted. The total price tag was $300, but most of that was the color. I am going back next week to see both of them. In my opinion, it was money well spent!
The stylist's name is Cori (I'm not sure of the spelling).
Good luck!
Try Mathew at Tres Jolie Salon in Uptown he's adorable and very "in tune" with your needs. They offer you wine and a great relaxing atmosphere. Tell him J. from METRO magazine recommended you!
Hi A.,
I posted a similar question last February. The majority of the replies were for Accolades in St. Paul. The ironic thing is, is my husband had booked me a surprise appt for Valentines pamper session already for that place the same day as I got my replies. I was so thrilled he had already made the appt. I see Amber, she can be hard to get in with, so book far in advance as possible. They have very high reviews on city search too.
My sister goes to Jon English in Minneapolis, and she says the woman she goes to there is just fantastic. My sister also has curly hair, and she said this woman really knows how to deal with it, rather than treating it like straight hair. I can't think of her name, but if you want it, email me and I'll get it from my sister!
