Diaper Service in West Suburbs?

I also used Bottoms Up Diapers (since it's the only one) for the first year, and it was fabulous. However, it was a bit pricey, around $16 a week, so I finallly bit the bullet and bought my own supply of prefolds and covers and started washing them. It really isn't that bad. Maybe because I was already in the habit of using cloth and keeping a diaper pail. Anyway, I was really happy with Bottoms Up. Good luck!

I believe there is only one diaper service in the Chicagoland area. I believe it is near Schaumburg. I can't remember the name of it. When I last considered it was before my daughter and she is 19 months. If you are not dead set on cloth diapers I have been using Nature Babycare diapers. They are biodegradable and so is the package they come in. They have almost completely biodegraded after 40 days in the garbage. My daughter got a lot of diaper rashes so I tried every disposable on the market. She was 4 months old when I found these at the Super Target in Warrenville. They are also available on diapers.com and they are the only biodegradable diaper on the market. It is also chlorine free. I love them. I had a friend that used cloth diapers and the diapers were always stained and smelly even after she washed them. Even then she sometimes brought disposables when they went out or were babysat by someone that wouldn't use the cloth. If you like the idea of cloth though I am pretty sure if you put it in the search engine you will find it and they will come out this way. Good luck.

I was unable to find a good diaper service, so ended up with Bum Genuis 3.0's. I used them for the first six months, and had to wash every 2 days. It was a bit troublesome because I had to remove inserts and then put them back in, it seemed I spent most of my time handling diapers. The diapers themselves were great, until my son got a little more chubb in his legs and then they seemed to cut off his circulation. I sold them to someone else, and switched to Nature Babycare. I LOVE them. They are disposable and biodegradable, but they are the first diapers that don't rash his bottom. I get them through an automatic shipment plan with Amazon.com, and they are cheaper that way than anyplace else (no tax, no shipping, and a discount on the diapers).

There is just the one service, as the other person said. I cloth, and I was scared about all the washing, but to be honest, it isn't that big of a deal. I made sure I had a good 3 days supply for when my daughter was a newborn, and now I wash every 1.5 days --I really don't want dirty, smelly diapers hanging around the house. I love, love Kissaluvs for newborns, btw. I also had some Fuzz Bunz for when we went out, and then when she got a bit older, I switched to Bum Genius full time.

I did buy a high efficiency, front load, washer and dryer before my daughter was born to assist me. I also do use disposables when my daughter has diarrhea, that way I can just throw them out immediately in the garage.

All the cloth services are comperable. I must commend you on your choice of using cloth. There is nothing cleaner or more hygenic for babys' bottom. You can leave the diaper pail outside the front door or on the porch if you like. It doesn't have to be in the babys room if you don't want it there. Good job mom!!!!
