My daughter was diagnosed with adolescent onset bipolar disorder at age eleven. At that time she began seeing Cathy Gattuso, ###-###-####. Her office is just off South Mopac (3103 Bee Cave Road, Austin, TX 78746) We've been on this journey for 6 years. For the first few years my daughter saw Cathy weekly (and more when anxiety was high) and now it's only when she feels a need. The "need" for her typically occurs at the beginning of a school year, a new job, and other stressors. One session and my daughter feels she handle her anxiety on her own until something else comes up, which may be months later and sometimes a year may pass before she feels the need to touch base.
I also highly recommend involvement with NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) is a valuable organization for peer support, parent support and classes. Their services are free. They can assist with guidance in dealing with your child's school. Most people, even school counselors do not understand anxiety and its debilitating effects.
