you should call you doctor. That is what they are for. They will be happy to answer those types of questions. :o)
Can you take Sudafed while nursing?
Thank you all for your quick responses. I am just going to take a day off and try to sleep it off with the nanny here to relieve me! I appreciate your feedback!

I use this resource when looking up what I can and can't take. It does say that Sudafed can reduce your milk supply but it is probably safe to take. You can reference it for other things in the future. :)

When i was sick while i was breastfeeding i called my Dr to see if there was anything over the counter i could take. She told me that any decongestants would decrease your milk supply and she did not recommend it.
It really sucked cause i was miserable. I just took motrin every 4 hours and slept as much as i could. I'm sorry :(
I think the main ingreadient in sudafed might dry out your milk. Use it sparingly.
L.,
My kids pediatrian said it is ok to take pretty much any kind of cold medicine, but whatever the effect it has on you it could cause the baby to have the same. Also, things like benedryl and sudafed are ok, but I don't take them all the time because it can cause your milk to dry up. If I am completely miserable I try and take a half of a dose and see if that helps first. If I have to take something like that I just drink tons of water. Hope that helps.

Yes, Sudafed if fine and way better than Benedryl (it really dries milk up). Just use as little as you can to not be totally miserable, like you would take more than that anyway :)
Also, why quit nursing at 1? Try going to two. You will be amazed at how much they cut back on their nursing at 12-15 months. It becomes a nap/bedtime thing. It is also a LIFESAVER with a cranky or freaking out toddler!! Try getting envolved with the La Leche League. They can help tons! It just gets so easy after a year and there are soo many benefits to nursing beyond one.
Just think about it... :)
It can cause supply problems, but at 7 months your supply should rebound pretty well. I'd be pretty careful with it.

How's the breastfeeding going? I see that you said you want to breastfeed for a year if you can do it. Is there anything that might keep you from reaching your goal?
when i was sick while pregnant my doctor recommended children's strength triaminic. i'm sure you can use any brand, my doctor just wanted it to be children's strength.
