You should probably talk to your ob because you should have had a period by now, but if you are done with the first pack of pills you need to start taking the second one, otherwise it will really screw you up.
i know, this is the most morinic question you will ever read in this site. i am 32 years old and have never been on a pill. a month ago my OB gave me two packs of birth control pills to start and see if my condition called endometriosis can be helped with birth control pills.
here's my question: last night i took the last of those brown pills (i think they're 4 or 5 at the end of the month just before i am supposed to get my period). well no period yet. so i don't have any of those brown pills to take, i have the brand new pack but i thought i start taking the white pills the day i get my period.
i know i am getting confused as i am typing please bear with me.
so what do i do if i don't get my period today? do i take the white pill, or do i not take any pills? if i don't take any pills when do i start taking the white pill again?
i know i could call my ob and ask but i feel so stupid asking this.
EDIT: for sure i am not pregnant. i got pregnant with my girls via invitro, and even if my body was capable of getting pregnant there is a natyral process that needs to take place for it to happen and since i have not done the natyral way in months and months and months (if i tell the true number i'd freak people out).
please help
vlora
thanks everyone. i did take the pill and have done so ever since. no period yet. i am calling the ob office today (monday) to see what they say.
you guys rock!!!!
You should probably talk to your ob because you should have had a period by now, but if you are done with the first pack of pills you need to start taking the second one, otherwise it will really screw you up.
There is nothing stupid about your question. Your OB, or more likely the nurse, should have explained the pills completely to you when they were prescribed.
You start the new pack of pills the day after you finish the old pack, whether or not you have your period.
I hope you will call your OB first thing Monday morning and let her know that you didn't have a period, but you started the next pack. You should never be afraid to ask your doctor a question.
I hope you find the right treatment for your endometriosis.
What pill are you on? I have always used pills with a 28 day cycle - meaning there are 7 pills at the end that are sugar pills. I wouldn't start my period until the 5th day of the sugar pills. I think you should just start a new pack, but you should call the dr to check, and maybe take a pregnancy test just to make sure you aren't pregnant.
Keep taking the pills according to the date (i.e. if you are a sunday start, you should be taking the one in the pack under sunday on that day) Don't skip any days. There are two types of pills, some have 28 and 5 are inactive (sugar) that just help you count the days to starting the active and others have only 21 and you have to remember to start them again (usually the following Sunday). You period shoudl start some time during the sugar pills or the week when you take nothing but it opften doesn;t start the first day. If it did not start at all during that time, keep taking them but call your ob
Vlora,
You need to go ahead & start taking the pills in the next pack sometimes it takes your body awhile to get used to the birth control pills. After you finish the second pack I would talk to your doctor & see what they have to say & I hope it helps with your endometriosis. I don't know what the symptoms are for endometriosis but if they are anything like being polycystic I feel for you.
My daughter was also an IVF baby so I know what you mean about not being able to get pregnant the natural way but it is possible a friend of mine got pregnant years ago & then a couple of years ago she needed to do IVF so don't rule out the old fashion way.
I don't doubt how long it has been for you. I couldn't tell you how long it has been for me either. After all the testing & what not prior to doing the IVF & then with the IVF it just takes something away from you & the want isn't there. My daughter will be 2 soon & I could probably count on my hands how many times.

It's not a moronic question, no question is a dumb question my dear. Yes, you start taking the birth control pill even if you don't start your period. Eventually your body will become so regular it'll be like clock work. You will still get your period eventually.....
NO, just continue and take the next pack after you finish the last pack. The hormones in the pills may mess up your period for a bit. No space between pills, just take one pack after another. unless there are only 21 pills in the pack then wait 7 days. If there are 28 pills in the pack just continue to the next pack. hope this helps. you really should phone even the pharmacy, they can help.
As a fellow sufferer from endo, I sympathize.
As for advice on what to do, your doctor is the best source of advice. Don't worry about bothering the office, that's why they make the big bucks.
Hope it all works out.
You should take a pregnanacy test if there is any chance you could be pregnant. If not then yes start your new pills tonight! You just don't want to take birth control pills and be pregnant. Good luck I hope you feel better!!
Sue is right. Were there 28 pills in the pack or 21? If there are 28, don't skip a beat, take the next one. If there are 21, you need to wait 7 days before starting another one. I was on the pill for 25 yrs, your body will take awhile to adjust to it. No worries.
