I was just at Lowe's and they had a display of cordless blinds and they are amazing! I'd go look there.
My 4 yo son nearly hung himself on our blinds a few weeks ago, so we are replacing all the blinds in the house with cordless. I A. not buying the "top down" option.
Is there anything I should know or ask about before I buy them? I'm going through a Budget Blinds that's owned by a friend.
Thanks gang. I bought them today, and I will definitely register them--thanks for the tip!
BTW, we have "break away" cords, as well as the tie-ups; fatigue and miscommunication between me and my husband led to the creation of a "hard loop" one day, and that's the day my child nearly died on them. Those safety measures only work if you can do them every single time, in perfection. And we have 10 window blinds that we open and close every single day. Too much room for error. Once the cordless are in, I will be so relieved.

I have had a set for 3 years now & they don't go down all the way. I forgot to register them so now I can't get them replaced for defect for free. Remember to register them!
We put them into our house and I loved them - I say loved, because we moved about 2 years after installing them. I can't remember which brand we used, but they were the ones without dangling cords. I A. very glad to hear your son is okay - it can happen so fast!
Positively,

Also check out overstock.com. There's were relatively inexpensive, if you're looking for a standard size. (Not blackout blinds, though.)
Seems like there should be some kind of securing system for blind cords. Have you checked into this? You may not need new blinds at all.
I put little screw-in hooks at the top of each window and just hung the blind cords on them when I opened the blinds. It worked really well--it's just a matter of hanging the cords becoming a habit.
I know you're planning to order through a friend from Budget Blinds, but I'd check with her on their timeliness of delivery. Two of my neighbors ordered from Budget about two years ago. One took 4-5 months to get their blinds. The other cancelled their order because it was taking so long. They re-ordered from someone else and still got theirs installed before the first neighbor did.
